BSkyB executive Duncan Painter has been named as the new chief executive of business to business publisher Emap.
He replaces David Gilbertson who left Emap – which is joint owned by Guardian Media Group and Apax Partners – after three years in the job in May.
Painter, 41, is currently managing director of Sky IQ, a subsidiary of BSkyB which provides customer intelligence services to BSkyB and other companies.
He has been with Sky for the last two years and his previous roles include being global product leader at Experian Marketing Services, chief executive officer of consumer intelligence company ClarityBlue and European systems integration director for Hitachi Data Systems. He led the management buyout of ClarityBlue in 2003 before its sale to Experian in 2006. His start date at Emap has yet to be announced.
Irina Hemmers, chairman of Emap and a partner at joint shareholder Apax Partners, said: 'Duncan has extensive experience of leading successful B2B and data companies and was the stand-out candidate for the role."
Emap publishes B2B titles including: Broadcast, Drapers and Construction News.
