Trinity Mirror has promoted Alan Edmunds to the job of deputy editorial director, Trinity Mirror regionals.
Working under editorial director Neil Benson he will remain editor-in-chief of Media Wales but give up his role as managing director of Media Wales.
The regional press giant also announced the creation of editors-in-chief for each of the regions where it publishes daily titles.
Darren Thwaites, editor of the Evening Chronicle, Newcastle, becomes editor-in-chief for the North East.
David Brookes, editor-in-chief in Birmingham, takes on editorial responsibility for Coventry.
Alastair Machray, editor-in-chief for Merseyside, adds North Wales and Cheshire to his empire.
Rob Irvine, newly appointed editor of the Manchester Evening News, will also take on the role of editor-in-chief for Manchester and Huddersfield.
