Daily Telegraph diplomatic editor, David Blair, is leaving to join the world newsdesk of the Financial Times.
In his new role Blair will oversee the Financial Time’s coverage of the Middle East and Africa.
Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times, said: “I am delighted that David Blair is joining the FT. He is a distinguished foreign correspondent who has reported from some of the hottest spots in the world.
“His experience and judgment will be invaluable in his new job on the FT’s world news desk, where he will be overseeing our coverage of Africa and the Middle East alongside the Africa and Middle East editors.”
Born in Malawi, Blair has worked in Pakistan, Iraq and Zimbabwe for Telegraph Media Group.
He was named Young Journalist of the Year by the Foreign Press Association in 2001 for his coverage of Zimbabwe, from which he was expelled for criticising Robert Mugabe’s regime.
