Sun-backed Help for Heroes campaign raises £30 million

By Roberto Barros

The Sun-backed Help for Heroes campaign has raised £30 million in donations in two years – according to today’s edition of the redtop.

The charity, which aids wounded soliders, has been closely assoicated with the Sun since it was founded in 2007. Sun columnist Jeremy Clarkson was a founding patron.

The Sun celebrated the fund-raising achievements of the charity in a double page spread today in print and also online.

The paper ran a Help for Heroes themed advertising campaign in March to raise awareness. Sales of Help for Heroes wristbands, it says, have so far been bought by 1.4 million people.

The charity has run more than 10,500 fundraising events, raising an average of £40,000 in each day since it launched, and already spent £23.5 million on projects including the construction of a network of recovery and rehabilitation centres.
