Men’s Fitness magazine plans international editions

By Roberto Barros

Dennis Publishing has forged a partnership with US firm American Media (AMI) to extend monthly magazine Men’s Fitness magazine by launching a number of international editions.

Dennis and AMI, which publishes the National Enquirer and Star magazines, will look to make content from the UK and US editions of the magazine available to licensees looking to launch in new territories.

James Tye, chief executive of Dennis Publishing, said the company was about to embark on an ‘aggressive programme of expansion’ for Men’s Fitness and further into the health and well-being sector in general.

To aid this drive Dennis has also acquired control of the complete publishing rights for Men’s Fitness the UK and Ireland. Dennis had published the magazine under licence from AMI in the British Isles since 2001.

Health and fitness titles have been booming in recent months as other men’s magazines have been feeling a pinch on circulations.

According to the most recent circulation figures, Men’s Fitness was up 3.6 per cent year on year to 67, 987, in the first six months of this year.

Its rival, Men’s Health, grew its circulation by 2.1 per cent over the same period to 250,247 – making it the most popular monthly men’s magazine in the UK.
