The London Evening Standard boosted its full-price circulation by a further 9,000 copies in October, with its headline circulation figure up three per cent on the previous month.
The evening paper, which has faced competition from the London frees since summer 2006, saw its circulation rise 4.85 per cent year on year to 306,747.
Discounted copies and bulks distributed to airlines, hotels and trains represented 42 per cent of this figure – or 128,087 copies – broadly the same as the previous month.
Associated’s free morning paper, Metro, marginally increased its circulation in October, up 0.06 per cent to 1,361,306 nationwide.
The title is now within 58,000 copies of overtaking the Daily Mirror’s headline circulation.
The two London free evening papers remained broadly 100,000 copies apart – with London Lite handing out 401,494 copies in October compared with thelondonpaper’s 500,614.
Circulation of London free financial paper City AM rose 0.11 per cent year on year to 101,421.
