NatMag is not the only UK publisher to bring out a one-off Michael Jackson tribute title.
Trinity Mirror has brought out Michael Jackson – King of Pop as a perfect-bound bookazine.
The title was finished by 4pm on Friday, the day after Jackson’s death, and has been in shops since Tuesday.
It costs £4.99 and is 86 pages, with an initial print run of 220,000. It was edited by Steve Hanrahan.
The mag makes use of the Daily Mirror’s extensive photographic archive to create what it calls a “comprehensive picture tribute” to the troubled singer.
Hanrahan said “Our team reacted quickly and worked extremely hard to turn around this special magazine in a very short space of time. We feel the end product is a fitting tribute to one of the world’s greatest entertainers.”
Following the announcement of Jackson’s death on Thursday night, the editor of NatMag-owned celeb weekly Reveal Michael Butcher and the rest of his team also swung into action to produce a one-off glossy photo-led magazine. Theirs was called: “Michael Jackson – Tribute to a Legend”.
It is priced at £2.99 and has a print run of 200,000.
