Sam Delaney is to step down as editor of Heat magazine after little more than a year in the post to work on a book and a new series for the cable television channel Comedy Central.
Executive editor Lucie Cave has been appointed as acting editor of the celebrity weekly by publisher Bauer Media. She will take over next month.
Delaney took up his post in September last year after previous editor Julian Lindley was appointed creative director (TV) with publisher Bauer Media.
He said: “I have been honoured and privileged to edit such a great magazine and work with the best editorial team in the business.
‘I’ve enjoyed every minute but these new opportunities are too exciting to turn down.
‘I wish Heat every success in the future and leave it in the supremely talented hands of Lucie Cave.”
Sales of Heat dropped 6.3 per cent year on year to 417,163 in the first half of this year according to ABC.
