Here's my latest weekly blog celebrating some of the best stories I've seen in the regional press this week:
A canny re-working of The Sun's famous 1992 general election front page by The Croydon Advertiser to report the closure of the town's biggest nightclub.
FoI work from the Coventry Telegraph reveals the local council has spent £21m on redundancy pay-offs over the last six years.
Trinity Mirror-owned dailies the Gloucester Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo are looking to create 1,000 apprentices on their patch this year.
Who knew that Campbeltown (the 'Wee Toon' on the west coast of Scotland) was the frontrunner to be home to the UK's first spaceport?
I'd also like to salute efforts to find a local angle on David Bowie:
The Croydon Advertiser interviewed his milkman.
The Yorkshire Post saluted him as the 'Starman of Leeds' after he played a famous concert there in the 1970s.
The Milton Keynes noted that he used to sign emails to Brian Eno 'Milton Keynes'.
And the Bromley News Shopper had a comprehensive round-up as the title with probably the most claim to Bowie as his former home town.
You can watch me talk about these stories (and others) here with Mike Mendoza on Latest TV Brighton. If you'd like to nominate a story for inclusion in my pick of the local press please email to dominicp@pressgazette.co.uk.
