The BBC’s commercial TV news channel BBC World News now reaches 30 million homes in American, according to the corporation’s in-house website Ariel.
It reports that the channel has grown from a reach of six million homes two years ago.
The growth means that as of last month, US audiences now get their own bespoke evening schedule form 5pm to midnight (East coast time).
It is the first time the international 24-hour news channel has done this in one of its territories.
In the US the BBC channel is available via various cable TV providers.
