Reality TV star Jade Goody is set to give her final interview to Piers Morgan on ITV1, Press Gazette can reveal – as OK magazine announced today it had bought the photo rights to her wedding this weekend.
The Northern and Shell glossy, in the same stable as Express Newspapers, announced the news on its website this morning.
Press Gazette understands that the magazine will pay £700,000 for the rights.
“Brave Jade Goody is to wed her long term boyfriend Jack Tweed this weekend – and OK will be there to celebrate with them,” the magazine said.
“We’ll have stunning exclusive pictures of the ceremony and intimate interviews as the courageous star has the wedding of her dreams.”
Goody, who has months to live, has declared her intention to make as much money as possible for her sons before she dies.
Her publicist, Max Clifford, said her final television interview is likely to be with the former Daily Mirror editor, Piers Morgan.
“There is potential for one interview,” he told Press Gazette. “It’s something Piers might do.
“That’s something that is being discussed. She likes Piers, and she has done stuff with him in the past.
“He’s keen to do something, and it would take place in the next few weeks.
“The most important thing now, which has always been the most important thing, is she will have the best medical care and continue to get out the message on cervical cancer.”
Although a broadcast bidding war was rumoured, Press Gazette has learned that Goody’s wedding will be shown on Living TV, the satellite channel that already broadcasts a diary-style documentary with Goody.
Clifford said: “Jade has a good relationship with them – Kate Jackson, the producer, is one of her best friends.
“It will be a way of winding the deal up, a way of bringing the deal to an end. It had several more episodes to go, which just isn’t feasible, so we have renegotiated instead.”
Clifford said Living TV would not pay extra for the wedding.
