Design legends David King and Neville Brody have joined the judging panel for the Magazine Design Awards.
King
was art editor of the Sunday Times magazine in the 60s and 70s, and has
been an influential figure in the publishing world for over 40 years.
Brody
is the type designer behind fonts including Insignia, Industria and
Arcadia, and was the artistic power behind The Face in the Eighties.
His CV also includes Arena and Per Lui.
Eye magazine’s John L
Walters, chairman of the judging panel, said: “Magazines are part of
most people’s lives – for entertainment, information and opinion – so
good design matters”.
“We are assembling a crack team of judges
that includes editors, writers, art directors, publishers and at least
a couple of genuine design legends in David King and Neville Brody.”
Other confirmed judges include Simon Esterson, Jan Brown, Rob Bidulph and Mark Porter.
The
Magazine Design Awards attract entries from designers across the whole
spectrum of customer and consumer magazines, business-to-business and
newspaper magazines and supplements.
