Youth culture magazine Vice wants to produce the world’s leading online video-driven fashion channel after acquiring British style publication i-D.
Vice announced the partnership yesterday, describing i-D as one of the only fashion publications it “actually respects”.
Vice, which recently celebrated its ten-year anniversary in the UK, also aims to help increase the print circulation and online audience of i-D.
Andrew Creighton, Vice’s president, said: “Vice is so excited to work with the guys at i-D magazine, one of the only fashion publications we actually respect.
“We know digital, i-D knows style, and together we’re going to give the world the gift of eye-catching, mind-blowing video-driven fashion content.”
Terry Jones and his wife Tricia, who founded i-D in 1980, will remain partners and shareholders as the two publications’ editorial and sales staff join forces.
“This marks the beginning of an incredibly exciting chapter in i-D’s history,” said Terry Jones.
“Working with Vice means partnering with a company that knows how to expand from print to digital in a smart way.
“There’s a huge void in video-driven fashion channels and this partnership will fill and dominate that void.”
