Former News of the World lawyer Tom Crone has denied involvement in any criminal offence after being released by police late last night.
Crone, 60, was arrested after ten police officers raided his South West London home at around 6.30am yesterday morning. He was released at around midnight last night.
Press Gazette understands that police arrested Crone after receiving information from News Corp's Management and Standards Committee.
Crone's solicitor Henri Brandman said this morning: 'My client has fully assisted the police in their enquiries. He categorically denies the commission of or involvement in any criminal offence. Neither he nor I will be making any further public statement."
The Met Police said yesterday that Crone was questioned on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications contrary to Section 1 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
