Citizen journalism website blottr claims to have broken news of yesterday’s bomb scare in London hours before it was picked up by the mainstream media.
Contributors first posted the story at 10.09am alongside pictures of a controlled explosion by a bomb disposal unit.
The photos were sent to the site from a Twitter user close to the scene. The story does not appear to have been broken any of the major news outlets until well after midday.
Blottr, which allows users to ‘report, collaborate and discover breaking news”, recently accepted more than £250,000 of investment from yVoucherCodes.co.uk founder Mark Pearson, and is currently based in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, London and Manchester.
It plans to use the investment to build up its team and launch into five new UK cities in coming weeks.
