The Press Association’s Cathal McNaughton has been named photographer of the year at the Picture Editors’ Awards 2007 last night.
McNaughton was also named Royal Photographer of the Year and Nature and Environment Photographer of the year.
The Guardian and the Sunday Herald were jointly named newspaper of the year at the ceremony last night at the Guildhall in London.
The other winners were:
- Regional Newspapers Photographer of the Year: Mark Waugh – Manchester Evening News
- Local Newspapers Photographer of the Year: Eamon Ward – The Clare People
- Photo Essay Photographer of the Year: Peter Nicholls – The Times
- Sports Photographer of the Year: David Shopland – Mail on Sunday
- Young Photographer of the Year: Julian Finney – Getty Images
- UK & Ireland News Photographer of the Year: Martin Rickett – Press Association
- News Photographer of the Year: Daniel Berehulak – Getty Images
- Portrait Photographer of the Year: Harry Borden – Bonakdar Cleary
- Royal Photographer of the Year: Cathal McNaughton – Press Association
- Nature & the Environment Photographer of the Year: Cathal McNaughton – Press Association
- Sports Picture of the Year: Rebecca Naden – Press Association.
