Jade Goody sells newspapers and magazines by the million. Jade Goody is cashing every cheque Max Hastings can earn for her to provide for her sons after her imminent death. We know the score; she knows the score. It’s a Faustian pact with which we’re all familiar.
But when is enough, enough? When will the readers finally lose their appetite for dabbling their fingers in other people’s misery?
Perhaps, I would suggest, when OK Magazine pays for the rights to a picture of one of Jade’s young sons, crying because his mother is about to die, and uses it on the cover. Until the inevitable fateful day, enough is now enough.
