It’s 10.30am and Press Gazette has gone to press for another week. Tomorrow subscribers will see a radically re-designed magazine with a host of new features and I’d be interested to know what people think about it.
Is it the definitive PG or a redesign too far?
Our earlier deadlines mean that all subscribers should now get the mag on Thursday mornings, with newsstand copies available on Wednesdays.
One of my favourite stories in the mag this week chronicles Fleet Street’s hunt for Jose Mourinho’s missing dog: which apparently involved at least 12 reporters from newspapers, TV and radio.
As one journalist told us: “I was sent out to pound the streets looking for a dog, which no-one really wanted to do because it’s ridculous.”
Woodward and Bernstein it may not be, but submitting to the whim of the newsdesk was ever the reporter’s lot. Ours is not to reason why and all that.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever been sent on?
