ITN signs up Midlands News Association for online video

By Oliver Luft

ITN has signed up Midlands News Association as the first regional publisher to use its online premium video news network.

The owner of the Shropshire Star and the Express and Star newspapers will imbed a specialist player into its websites enabling them to carry video news content from ITN On – the TV news firm’s multimedia division.

The news clips supplied by ITN will be funded through advertising provided by sales teams working for its partner Blinx, the video search engine business. The three companies will then share profits.

John Hardie, chief executive of ITN, said: “I’m delighted to announce this new deal. It shows in practice how a national TV news provider can work with regional and local news suppliers allowing them to enhance their online output.”

ITN‘s premium news network is already used by national newspaper groups Daily Mail & General Trust, for its Mailonline site, and the websites of Express Newspapers.
