Japanese TV audiences will soon be able to watch London Tonight, thanks to a deal made between ITV and Tokyo MX.
The Tokyo TV station, which has a similar deal with New York’s NY1, will broadcast London Tonight packages on Sundays.
Tokyo MX, whose shareholders include Sony, has also agreed to work with London Tonight on any future stories of mutual interest.
London Tonight is planning to send a reporter to Tokyo later in the year to look at the way the city deals with issues that also affect London.
“There’s no doubt that big cities such as London, New York and Tokyo all suffer from similar problems and we can all learn from each other,” said London Tonight editor Stuart Thomas.
ITN chief executive Mark Wood added: “Partnering with Tokyo MX will enable London Tonight to add a new dimension to its coverage of issues affecting all the really big cities.”
