F1 racing title plans to expand its global reach

By Press Gazette

Formula 1 magazine F1 Racing is expanding overseas and launching editions in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

F1 Racing’s publisher, Haymarket, has signed licensing agreements to publish the title in Russia, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain and Lebanon.

The launches are planned for March. Since its launch in 1996, the UK edition has been followed by 24 editions worldwide, including Europe, the US and Asia.

It is published in 20 languages and distributed in more than 100 countries.

F1 Racing publisher Karl Penn said: “The new agreements are strategically important, and working with established local publishing companies we will be extending the F1 Racing brand into markets, which will be increasingly crucial to the sport itself and also to sponsors targeting new markets.”

He added: “The 2003 season was one of the closest Formula 1 championships for many years, and coupled with increases in international television audiences and in anticipation of the new race circuits for 2004 in China and Bahrain, we continue to see strong interest in F1 Racing as a licence proposition.”
