Regional publisher Northcliffe Media has made a series of internal editorial appointments on its papers in Surrey and Essex.
Deanne Blaylock, current editor of the Brentwood Gazette, will take up a new role as editor of the Surrey Mirror series of newspapers with the news editor of the Surrey Mirror Neville Wilson promoted as her replacement.
In addition to these changes, Croydon Advertiser editor Andy Worden will take over as editor of the Crawley News and East Grinstead Courier & Observer, swapping jobs with current editor Glenn Ebrey.
The changes follow the resignation earlier this month of Frank le Duc, previously editor-in-chief of Northcliffe’s weekly papers in Sussex and East Surrey, after nine months running the four papers.
During his brief spell with Northcliffe, le Duc oversaw the relocation of the Surrey Mirror – which he edited – from Reigate to Redhill and the relaunch of the weekly Croydon Advertiser as a part-free title.
He also took overall editorial responsibility for the Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser, the Crawley News, the East Grinstead Courier and Observer and a string of other weekly titles in the group.
Northcliffe South East editorial director Alan Geere sent an internal memo to staff yesterday informing them of the changes which come into effect at the start of next month.
