Guardian News and Media has, belatedly, joined the list of newspaper groups looking to cut staff in the economic downturn.
The Guardian and Observer publisher today announced plans to axe 50 editorial staff by the end of the year – down from 850 to 800.
It hopes to achieve £10m in cost savings through non-replacement of staff, voluntary redundancy, and cuts to freelance budgets and expenses.
