The Whitehaven News will bid a sad farewell to deputy editor Christine Peacock when she leaves, after 12 years, to take on the role of district editor at the New Forest Journal.
But Peacock, who has spent her years at the News as reporter, features editor, and the last four as deputy editor, said it is time for a change.
“I’m very excited about taking on this new role, I’m looking forward to the new challenges it will present,” she said. “My main responsibility at NFJ will be to try to increase circulation.
Hopefully that’s what I will do.”
The New Forest Journal is an edition of the Salisbury Journal, and is a close community paper that focuses on local parish news.
A key part of Peacock’s role, which is a new position in the company, will be the development of Salisbury Newspapers in the New Forest area.
She will also be involved in the production of the company’s free paper, the Avon Advertiser, and will develop content on the company’s website.
Peacock has previously worked for the Cumberland News, South Yorkshire Times and Bolton Evening News.
