The Gloucestershire Echo, based in Cheltenham, and sister paper The Citizen, in Gloucester, have got together to produce a new 16-page colour sports supplement for Mondays.
Called Sport Monday, the pull-out consists of a mixture of shared pages between the two Northcliffe papers and features that are unique to each of The Echo and The Citizen.
Echo editor Anita Syvret said: “It’s a triumph of cooperation between the two papers.
“The Echo and Citizen have different readerships so there are a number of change pages in our supplements, including the front covers.
“The supplement has doubled the number of sports pages at our disposal on a Monday.
“This has allowed us to use pictures bigger and create more impact.”
The decision to go ahead with the joint project was taken only a month before the start of the new season.
