Queen of the wags Coleen Mcloughlin is headed for a High Court showdown with Associated Newspapers in a row over a Daily Mail story.
Mcloughlin, girlfriend of soccer star Wayne Rooney, and noted for her extravagant shopping habits, claims a story headed “No thanks, Coleen!” in the Daily Mail on 31 March was defamatory.
Now she is demanding damages for libel of up to £200,000, and an injunction banning repetition of the words she claims were libellous.
She is also seeking aggravated damages, and payment of her legal costs.
