The BBC has extended its Match of the Day deal – and, for the first time, will show Premier League goals on its iPlayer.
The BBC’s current deal expires at the end of the 2009 / 10 season, and the new deal expires at the end of 2012 / 13.
The fee is believed to be £173m, a small increase on the previous deal’s £171m.
The new deal means the BBC will be able to show Match of the Day 2, its Sunday night round-up show, on the iPlayer from Tuesdays.
Match of the Day’s audience has grown from 3.2 million in 2004 / 05 to 3.8 million last year, while Match of the Day 2 has grown from 1.5 million to 2.5 million.
