Sheridan’s party tries to find some solidarity

By Axegrinder axeblog

Members of Tommy Sheridan’s Scottish socialist party, Solidarity, have been leafleting Glasgow seeking an “end to Murdoch’s witch-hunt” and “a public inquiry into the action of the police”.

Sheridan was arrested and held for eight hours by Scottish police as part of an investigation into allegations he lied in court last summer to win his libel battle with the News of the World.

On the Saturday afternoon Axegrinder’s source was in Glasgow city centre, apparently four people had signed the “Defend Tommy Sheridan” petition.

The leaflet mentions that Sheridan was elected to the Scottish parliament in 1999 on the average wage of a worker. But it doesn’t mention what he has done with the £200,000 libel payout from the NoW last summer after his controversial win.
