Former national newspaper journalist and head of news at the Catholic Communications Service Ollie Wilson has been appointed director of communications of the British Horse Society.
Wilson leaves his post of more than two-and-a-half years at the Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales, where he spent 13 months as acting director.
Prior to this he worked as a journalist for the Sunday Telegraph, CNN, Express Newspapers and other organisations.
Wilson successfully relaunched the church’s official journal, Briefing, and obtained exclusive interviews with Iain Duncan Smith on his sacking as Conservative Party leader, and Michael Martin, Speaker of the House of Commons. This contributed to an increase in sales of more than 20 per cent in less than a year.
