The NUJ has condemned a three per cent pay rise given to staff at the Press Association and a pay-banding deal it says leaves some subs on as little as £11,000.
The union says new pay bands at PA’s Howden offices in Yorkshire leave sub-editors working on national newspaper TV pages earning between £11,000 and £15,000.
NUJ north of England organiser Miles Barter said: “It is an average rise, so that means not everybody is going to get it and they haven’t said when it’s going to happen.
“We want PA to explain why the rise is 2.5 per cent to three per cent and when it’s going to be paid.”
A PA spokesman declined to comment on the issue of pay.
