Trinity regionals hit by more cuts

By Press Gazette

Trinity Mirror is tightening its belt in the Midlands again with its weeklies the target for jobs cuts this time.

In the latest round of job cuts, five editors on individual weeklies will be replaced by two group editors with two sub-editor roles being created.

The titles affected are the Cannock Chase Post, Stafford Post, Tamworth Times, Walsall Observer and the Sutton Coldfield News.

A spokesman for Trinity Mirror said: “Midland Weekly Media publishes 22 free weekly newspapers of similar size across the Midlands. “Only a handful of these titles currently have individual editors. All the other MWM editors are responsible for a series of titles. “This restructuring aims to bring conformity to the editorial management of the free weekly titles. “The two new group editors will be responsible for four geographically grouped titles each. We are confident that these new editors will continue to provide the best possible service to readers.”
