After two years of planning and development, The Jewish News’s radical relaunch is finally complete.
Notably, the paper has dropped the ‘London’ from its masthead, simply to embrace its coverage outside the city.
“While the focus is still the Jewish community in the capital, it is a reflection that the paper covers both national and international subjects of relevance to the Jewish community,” says managing editor David Garfinkel.
The paper, which won Free Newspaper of the Year at Press Gazette’s 2002 Regional Press Awards, has taken on a tabloid format both in its size and content style.
Garfinkel stressed the importance of attracting young readers and the paper now includes a seven-day TV guide as well as entertainment listings and reviews from new critics.
The paper’s sports section has also been overhauled with added manager and player of the month profiles and a Wonder Kids section, which looks at Jewish soccer stars of the future.
