Ken Symon has been appointed as the Sunday Herald’s business editor, replacing Kenny Kemp.
Symon, who joins the newspaper on Monday, is currently covering Scotland for the Financial Times. Previously he was business editor of The Scotsman and was deputy editor of The Sunday Times’s Scottish operation.
Kemp will leave the editorship of the business section but will continue to write for the newspaper. He has just completed a book about Go Airlines in conjunction with the founder, Barbara Cassani, which will be published in the autumn.
Sunday Herald editor Andrew Jaspan said: “I remain saddened to see Kenny leave the newspaper, since he has been crucial to the success of the Sunday Herald, both in terms of editing Scotland’s best business section, and the wider commitment he has made to the newspaper from the outset in 1999.
“But I am delighted that Kenny is keen to continue writing for the newspaper and being involved in a number of projects. “I am equally pleased that Ken has agreed to join the team. He is widely known and respected in the business community and I have no doubt that he will develop and enhance the Sunday Herald’s reputation for ?rst class business journalism.”
The Sunday Herald is also looking for a new media correspondent to replace Darran Gardner, who is leaving the newspaper after four years to do an MBA at Strathclyde University.
Meanwhile, the Herald’s Londonbased City editor, Chris Hope, is to join the business team at The Daily Telegraph.
