The Shropshire Star produced a special edition to help Rover workers facing the dole after the company’s collapse.
It printed 1,000 copies of a recruitment special last Thursday to give away free to workers at the Longbridge plant.
A
circulation team rushed the papers from Telford to the factory 45 miles
away and handed out the edition at the factory gates, recruitment
offices and pubs and clubs.
The special edition featured 25 pages of job ads as well as listing some of the attractions that are on offer in Shropshire.

Sarah-Jane Smith said: “Our Thursday night paper features hundreds of
jobs on offer and we thought it could prove useful to some of those
workers laid off at Longbridge.
“We know that a recruitment
agency which advertised in the paper has already received some positive
feedback from some of the staff made redundant and we are delighted to
have been able to help.”
The special edition was printed immediately after the first edition and was on the streets of Birmingham just 45 minutes later.
