The Spectator has trawled its archives and produced a special standalone edition to celebrate its 175th anniversary this month.
According to The Spectator, it is the oldest continuously published magazine in the English language.
The 132-page one-off title brings together more than 75 articles from the magazine’s archives and features contributions from Tony Blair and Daily Telegraph editor Charles Moore.
Associate editor Martin Vander Weyer, who has spent the past four months sifting through back issues, said: “Everybody who is anybody in the literary world has written for The Spectator over the years. We have a wonderful archive of material.”
The magazine contains an account by WF Deedes, My Evening with Imelda, based on a dinner party given by the ?rst lady in the Philippines, an article by James Bond author Ian Fleming and a travel piece on Vietnam by author Graham Greene. The issue was designed by a team at The Daily Telegraph, led by the paper’s design director, Clive Crook.
It is due out on 25 September and on sale for six weeks with a cover price of £4.95.
