Three senior reporting positions are being filled at the Evening News in Norwich.
Naomi Canton, above, who is taking the leap from weeklies to dailies, joins after three years at the Shropshire Newspapers titles Bridgnorth Journal, Market Drayton Advertiser and North Shropshire Chronicle. While there she ran a campaign to raise money to build a day unit at a Shropshire hospice.
Canton said: “I fell in love with Norwich when I came for my interview and I was very impressed with the paper. We are in direct competition with the Eastern Daily Press, which makes it even more exciting for me.”
Sarah Hall worked for two years on the Esher News and Mail Series and seven months on the Wandsworth Borough News. She has recently been working on a freelance basis for Reed Business Information.
News editor Alasdair McGregor said: “Naomi and Sarah have both plied their trade with weekly titles and now feel the time is right to make the step up to reporting on a busy daily newspaper.
“Both displayed a commitment to local news and will be an asset to the paper.”
Canton starts on 31 August, Hall joins on 20 September and interviews are taking place for a third senior reporting position.
