Rajars: Today regains lost listeners

By Press Gazette

Radio 4's Today programme looks to be reversing its downward
listening trend, gaining an extra 260,000 listeners in the last three
months.

After a drop in the last set of results, the flagship breakfast show's audience is more or less stable year on year. Today is still the most listened-to breakfast programme in London.

Overall,
Radio 4's weekly audience reach is down 1.6% since last autumn, but the
station is still the UK's third most listened-to radio station, behind
Radios 2 and 1,with 9.5m listeners.

Five Live's breakfast show, with Nicky Campbell,
has also lost 130,000 listeners since October 2005. In London, it has
lost more than 20 per cent of its audience — down from 1.4m to 1.1m.

In
London, Nick Ferrari has given a boost to LBC's breakfast show.
Although the talk station's overall figures — and those of its sister
station LBC News 1152 — are stable year on year, Ferrari's breakfast
show has put on an extra 50,000 listeners in the last 12 months.

The show, which runs every weekday from 7am to 10am, is now listened to by 358,000 Londoners, a gain of almost 20 per cent.
