Lindsey Hilsum, Channel 4 News diplomatic correspondent since 1996, has been promoted to international editor.
The appointment is in recognition of international news coverage that has won the bulletin several honours, including the RTS 2003 news event award for her coverage of the war in Iraq.
Hilsum said she hoped in her new role to have a bigger say in shaping the programme’s foreign coverage. “I plan to travel just as much as ever, because I still believe it’s important to combine analysis with frontline reporting,” she told Press Gazette.
It is understood she will not be replaced as diplomatic correspondent, but she will work closely with recently appointed foreign affairs correspondent Jonathan Miller.
