Former FHM Collections editor Nick DeCosemo is the new editor of Mixmag.
DeCosemo, former editor of Emap's fashion spin-off and associate editor of FHM, will take up the editorship of Development Hell's dance music monthly on 8 May.
Current editor Andrew Harrison moves to editor-in-chief and returns to stablemate music title The Word.
Previous Mixmag editors include Grazia MD David Davies and the founder of online gossip site Popbitch, Neil Stevenson.
DeCosemo, 34, who is also a DJ and musician, said: "I've inherited a first-class team and can't wait for us to push the magazine forward, staying true to our core readership and attracting new converts in search of a credible, controversial and comprehensive companion to their clubbing exploits."
Independent publisher Development Hell bought the former Emap title in 2005. At its peak at the turn of the century it sold in excess of 100,000 copies. Its last ABC was 39,017.
Current editor Harrison, who has edited the title twice, said it was time to let someone new take the reins. "We have selected someone who we think can take it in the direction we've been heading."
