Editorial director of Trinity Mirror Southern, Marc Reeves, has been named editor of the Birmingham Post.
Born in Birmingham, Reeves replaces Fiona Alexander who has moved into health PR.
Reeves, 40, has held numerous senior editorial posts prior to TMS and was deputy editor to Keith Sutton in Carlisle.
He said: "An opportunity to return to my home city to edit one of the best-regarded titles in the industry is one simply not to be missed.
"While there’s a lot of work to be done to improve the Post’s circulation performance, I am confident there is also a lot to be achieved with such an iconic and influential title."
Tony Lennox, who has been acting editor at the Post while Fiona Alexander was on maternity leave, lead the editorial development at Midland Weekly Media.
Reeves will take up his position on 10 April.
