The Chartered Institute of Journalists is to issue a new international press card to its members.
The move follows the row over the CIoJ’s trade union arm, IoJ (TU), being rejected for membership by the International Federation of Journalists. The IFJ issues its own international press card.
Details of the card have been sent to embassies and international organisations which request press credentials before allowing journalists to attend press briefings and events.
The CIoJ claims the new card incorporates new security features which combat forgery.
