Steve Taschini, above, has been appointed BBC Oxford’s new executive editor to head up BBC South Today, Radio Oxford and the Where I Live website.
Taschini, who succeeds editor Phil Ashworth, who is retiring, started out at BBC Radio Merseyside and worked at BBC Radio Nottingham for 13 years, before reporting for BBC TV East and heading up BBC Radio Kent.
Most recently, Taschini has been working as business manager for Andy Griffee, the BBC’s controller of English regions, at BBC Birmingham.
He said: “I am so looking forward to working with the fantastic team of broadcasters in Oxfordshire. We plan to develop some new and innovative programming on all three media.”
According to Rajar, Radio Oxford increased its audience by 16,000 over the past year.
