Willow Murton has won the Welsh Livery Guild travel bursary.
The
£1,000 award will enable Murton, from Ceredigion, to spend a month in
Cuba, meeting national journalists on the state radio and television
stations and foreign correspondents.
A graduate in Spanish and
French from Cambridge University, Murton, 24, is studying for a
postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism at Cardiff University,
with a bursary from Carlton Television. She is due to start work for
ITV Wales in the autumn.
She said: “I’m fascinated by the
politics and people of the region and I’m excited about the opportunity
to explore first-hand what life is like for journalists in Cuba.”
