Veteran broadsheet foreign correspondents Christopher Walker and Derek Brown have been recruited to provide daily commentary for new Middles East financial news service Noozz.com.
Walker, 60, left The Times in 2004 as part of a round of redundancies after 25 years reporting for the paper — 16 of them from the Middle East.
Since then he has commented on the Middle East for Sky and British Services Broadcasting.
Brown, 59, left The Guardian in 2002 after 32 years and was based in Jerusalem from 1993 to 1997.
Walker said: "The idea is to provide subscribers with a sharp and crisp handle on the main events of the day without the bias that often colours commentaries written from either the strictly pro-Arab or pro-Israeli point of view.
"Our aim will be to look at the facts objectively and try and explain from our experience the reasons behind various actions and their possible implications."
Based in offices at 40 Grosvenor Gardens, SW1, Noozz is backed by former international banker Michael Ward, who later made his fortune by building up European Leisure plc.
Ward said: "Noozz is intended to be the world's most comprehensive information provider on the Middle East countries it covers."
