The Financial Times has created the position of European commentator for Brussels-based Wolfgang Münchau, who will write a weekly column on European business and economics every Monday.
Münchau was part of the team that launched FT Deutschland in 2000 and from 1996 to 1999 he was the FT’s economics correspondent. He has previously been Washington and Brussels correspondent for The Times.
Brian Groom, European edition editor of the FT, said: “Wolfgang Münchau is one of the most perceptive commentators on Europe’s economy and politics, with a proven record of challenging conventional wisdom and puncturing complacency.
“His forthright views and analysis will provide the perfect companion to the energetic news reporting coming out of Brussels and our other European offices.”
