Jewish Telegraph editor Paul Harris has expressed his anger at Michael Howard’s press chief Guy Black for not setting the paper up with an interview with the Conservative leader.
In a leader column, Harris accused Howard and Black of “only being interested in the bigger publishing organisations and the national press”.
Harris claimed Black had pledged that one of the leader’s first interviews would be with the paper when he became Howard’s spokesman last November.
But a letter was sent to Harris by the Conservative deputy media manager stating: “It is with immense regret that we have to decline the offer of an interview.”
A Conservative spokesman has since said that the sheer volume of interview requests made it impossible to satisfy everyone.
