Glasgow radio station appoints programme chief

By Press Gazette

Glasgow’s latest radio station, SAGA 105.2fm, has appointed Gerry Burke as programme controller.

Burke has previously worked at senior level with Scottish Television, Aberdeen-based NorthSound Radio, ScotFM and Radio Clyde.

While programme controller at NorthSound, Burke boosted the station’s audience reach to 60 per cent – the highest in the UK at that time.

The new station is currently seeking to fill 37 vacancies at its broadcasting base in City Park, Glasgow.

Its staff of 41 will include a sixstrong news team – comprising a head of news, four news/features journalists and a sports journalist.

The station will initially carry regular news bulletins from 6am to midnight but the news team will also have a significant input into general programming.
