First task for Press Cadets

By Press Gazette

The 10
who survived a tough selection process to take part in Press Cadets
will be set the first of four tasks designed to test their journalistic
talent this week.

Les Floyd, Zoe Smith, Lou Thomas, Tim
Weissberg, Elizabeth Pountney, Benjamin Leach, Elaine Okyere, Gareth
Gore, Rachel Williams and William Payne were picked to take part in the
four-week contest that will end with two winners working as part of the
Press Gazette team for a year. At stake are two fully paid 12-month
contracts sponsored by National Lottery operator Camelot.

The 10 will be briefed on the first assignment by NME deputy editor Alex Needham at IPC’s King’s Reach Tower.

When they’ve completed the assignment, judges will decide which eight will go through to the next stage.

A full report on the first Press Cadets assignment will appear in two weeks.
