The new chairman of the Press Complaints Commission, Sir Christopher Meyer, will give his views on the future development of the Commission when he makes his first official speech next week.
Speaking to regional newspaper publishers at the annual general meeting of the Newspaper Society on Tuesday, Meyer will also pledge his commitment to press self-regulation.
He will highlight some of his ideas for building on the success of the self-regulatory system, touching on issues ranging from scrutiny of the Commission’s procedures and its membership, to critical adjudications and the editors’ code.
Meyer took up his appointment on 31 March and has since been on a meet-the-editors tour of the UK.
