The Face has had a radical redesign for the first time in 10 years to make it look brighter and more modern. It has a new section for gadgets at the back, which has a Japanese influence, while the front section has been made more glossy and visual to create a faster pace, writes Mary Stevens.
Editor Neil Stevenson, who joined the magazine last year, brought in designers Lee Swillingham and Stuart Spalding.
Stevenson said: “We felt like we were curators of a museum and we didn’t want to knock anything over. Now we can relax – we feel as though we own it. We chucked out all the scratchy, grunge fanziney things that used to be popular. We wanted to create something bright, enthusiastic and passionate.”
He has brought in a number of columnists including music journalist Garry Mulholland and Murray Healy, who will cover fashion.
